The Fine Art Studio of Rotblatt-Amrany will be unveiling the design plans for a Ronald Reagan Lifeguard Statue today, February 6, 2014, at a news conference in Dixon, IL. This day marks Ronald Reagan’s 103rd birth date.
The proposed statue will be 7 feet tall and sculpted in bronze. It will depict Ronald Reagan as a young lifeguard running to the river to save a drowning swimmer. Reagan spent a total of 7 summers as a lifeguard at Lowell Park. During that time he saved a total of 77 swimmers. The statue will be in a specially selected location overlooking the former beach.
Sculptors Omri Amrany and Gary Tillery will be in attendance, along with the son and grandson of a swimmer saved by Reagan. Rotblatt-Amrany is extremely excited for this opportunity to collaborate with the city of Dixon and to be able to commemorate an icon such as Ronald Reagan. There will be landscaping done to surround the statue as well. Check back to our website for more details on this Ronald Reagan statue throughout the year.
