In Memory of Winnie Lieberman
Winnie Lieberman sculpted with our studio from 1990-2011, but she had a lifelong interest in art. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Illinois and then studied fashion illustration at the Chicago Academy of Fine Art.
For many years she devoted her time to being a helpful wife, a caring mother to her two daughters, and a creative homemaker.
When her daughters were grown, she studied painting with Abbot Pattison and Carl Schwartz. She painted in oils and acrylics and exhibited in local exhibitions.
In 1990, she began sculpting. She studied stone sculpture at the Suburban Fine Arts Center in Highland Park and with Omri Amrany at our studio.
Winnie worked in both stone and bronze. Her stone sculptures are representational, depicting both elegant female figures, ornate birds, and stealthy animals. Her whimsical bronze figures represent a variety of everyday activities. Her sculptures are represented in numerous private collections across the United States. She was represented in the K-L Gallery in Highland Park.
She participated in many group shows. To name a few; The Gold Coast Art Fair in Chicago; Lake Forest Art Expo; Glencoe Art Fair; Citibank in Northbrook; and Oak Street in Chicago. She has participated in many Rotblatt & Amrany Annual Exhibits as well as showing in the Glencoe Women’s Library Club Garden Walk.
She served as a board member at the Suburban Fine Arts Center in Highland Park, IL for several years.
As a long time member of our artist colony family, we will miss her.
