Ernie Banks, “Mr. Cub”

This bronze statue of Ernie Banks, the most beloved player in the franchise, stands 7 feet tall on a 4-foot granite base. Unveiled March 31, 2008, Mr. Cub is as much a part of the franchise as Wrigley field. The artist, Lou Cella, says “This hyper-real sculpture has one of the strongest connections to the public, more than anything else I’ve ever worked on. There were an immense number of people who approached me with a deep emotional connection with Ernie.”
